Belly dancing, what do you think about it? Most of us have the ideal from television and/or movies that it is the dance for the not so modest woman. On the contrary, for some it is an art of expression through dance and for others it is a sensual dance that improves feminine health. It is a dance that teaches a woman to embrace her femininity. It improves your own personal self acceptance and to be comfortable in your own skin. It is one of the best ways I know personally to relieve stress. So don’t be afraid!! Give it a try!!

BELLYDANCE FITNESS
A sensual and feminine fusion of fitness and dance! This is a great work out! It will improve feminine health, stimulate blood circulation & digestion, increase joint fluidity, and boost self confidence.

Benefits of the dance:
During the dance, the movements of hip drops, circles, figure eights, and shimmies put the joints and ligaments in the lower back and hip through a full range of gentle, repetitive motion. This movement helps increase the flow of synovial fluid (nature’s lubricant) in these joints. When movements are done properly, the pelvis is tipped forward, or tucked somewhat; a neutral position that can help prevent lower back problems. Belly dancing can help relieve stress to the back, counteracting the almost constant compression of the disks that occurs from sitting and a sedentary lifestyle.

Waist beads: In some tribes, pregnant woman wear colorful beads until the baby is born. Females begin wearing waist beads from early childhood. They are meant to help them form their bodies into nice shapes and exemplify femininity at a young age. Among the Karimojong and people from northern Uganda, where beads are worn on the outside, they are a feature of beauty and femininity.
